Pastry for Pies & Tarts

One-Crust Pie (9in)
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 plus 1 tbs shortening
2 to 3 tbs of cold water

(Double recipe for 2 pie crusts)

I mix the flour & salt together, then I add the shortening (mix with hands) then add the water.

This is the recipe I use for ALL my pies (desserts/dinners)!!
For desserts I may add some sugar.

Several people say that 'you are not to mix with your hands bc the dough will not turn out right (not flakey) BUT...mine is flakey...and O So Yummy =)
